Feeding and Eating Disorder Counseling

Feeding and Eating Disorder Counseling

Does your relationship with food control your life?

When your relationship with food becomes confusing and unbalanced, Dr. Boersma can help restore that balance. She will address how to construct a lifestyle, including emotional well-being and nutritional choices, that helps to end the destructive process eating disorders cause in an individual's life and to their loved ones.

Dr. Boersma knows your relationship with food will dictate your family, social, and professional interactions. As such, she approaches the treatment of eating disorders by looking at the role food plays in your life. She focuses on assessing the multiple ways it can impact such as family dynamics emotional numbing, professional pressures, mood shifts, or social/interpersonal dysregulations. Together, you will explore why some foods make you feel better while others make you feel bad. We will address issues of anxiety, depression, mood swings and more as we work to pick foods that will work for your body and lifestyle.

As an integrative health and wellness counselor, Dr. Boersma has extensive experience working with individuals, groups, residential programs, partial hospitalization programs, and families to address feeding and eating disorders. She combines training in family-based therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, integrative nutrition, and other treatment modalities to interrupt disordered eating patterns to support recovery.
